He is a curator and writer living in New York. His exhibition projects include: Tele[visions] (Kunsthalle Vienna, 2001-02); Transmute (The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, 1999); Heaven: Public View/Private View (PS1, 1998); Exterminating Angel (Galerie Ghislaine Hussenot, Paris, 1998); Cathode Ray Clinic 1 (Apex Art, New York, 1997); a/drift (The Center for Curatorial Studies Museum, Bard, 1997); Screen (Friedrich Petzel Gallery, New York, 1996); Don't Look Now (Thread Waxing Space, New York, 1994). Decter‘s writings have been wider published in magazines such as Artforum, Flash Art, Purple Prose, and NU. He has also authored catalogue texts for institutions such as the Magasin, Grenoble; The Photographers Gallery, London; CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux; The Carnegie Museum of Art (Carnegie International 1999-00); Kunstmuseum Bonn; Kunstverein in Hamburg; Sao Paulo Biennale; Secession, Vienna; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo; and Rooseum, Malmo. “Synergy Museum" appears in the book The Discursive Museum, (Hatje Cantz/MAK). He is a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and has also taught at UCLA; the Art Center College of Design/Pasadena; Konstfack in Stockholm; the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem/Tel Aviv.
