(Havana, Cuba, 1965). He is a curator and art critic. He graduated in Art History from the University of Havana and worked as curator at the Havana Biennial and the National Photographic Library of Cuba. He participated as advisor and writer in the curatorship and edition of the book Mapas abiertos. Fotografía latinoamericana (1991-2002); as curator of the exhibition Herejías: Iconografías de Pedro Meyer (Centro de la Imagen, Mexico, 2008), and as coordinator of the XIII Biennial of Photography 2008. He recently organized the group shows La banalidad del mar (Museum of Modern Art of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 2016), Bajo protesta. Fotografía o política en América Latina (El Callao, Peru, 2017) and Doble play. Fotografía cubana de hoy (Photo Museum of Cuatro Caminos, Mexico, 2017). He was editor of Fisura. Revista de literatura y arte, and his articles have appeared in various specialized and popular publications such as Alquimia, Aperture, Art Nexus, Arte al día, Arte cubano, Atlántica Internacional de las Artes, C Photo Magazine (Ivory Press), Encuadre, Encuentro de la Cultura Cubana, Extracámara, La Jornada Semanal, The Journal of Decorative and Propaganda Arts, Replicante, Revista de Estudios Interdisciplinarios de América Latina y el Caribe (Tel Aviv University), Luna Córnea and Tierra adentro. He has taught courses, workshops and lectures in diverse cultural and educational institutions in more than 15 countries. He currently directs Página en blando, a curatorial project with a pedagogical vocation, aimed at photography students in Latin America.
