(Bogota, Colombia, 1950) Colombian writer in based in Mexico. Studied the degree in Philosophy and Literature in the University of the Andes, Colombia, and later she made a postgraduate in Political Sciences. She is known for her work as a journalist in the field of politics, publishing articles in important magazines such as Proceso, Semana and newspapers such as La Jornada. In 1983 she was a member of the "The Colombian Commission for Peace Negotiation" between the government and the M-19 rebel movement, and experience that she published years later in History of an Enthusiasm (1986). She has been recognized with the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Award From FIL, Guadalajara, for her novel Dulce Compañia (1997); The Prix France Culture for Best Foreign Novel (1998); The Prize Archbishop Juana Sanclemente (2003); and the Alfaguara Prize for her novel Delirio (2004). Among her best known books are Dulce Compañía (1997), La novia oscura (1999), Olor a rosas invisibles (2002), Delirio (2004) and Demasiados Heroes (2009).
