An artist and a writer, he lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has PhD in Visual Arts by Universidade de Sao Paulo (2008). At present, he works as a professor of Theory and Art History in the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. His individual shows and recent projects include: “XXV Sao Paulo Biennale” (2002); “Você gostaria de participar de uma experiência artística?” (Museu Histórico de Santa Catarina, 2006); “Domestic incidents” (Tate Modern, London, 2006); documenta 1 (Kassel, Germany, 2007); “80/90- Modernos, Pós-modernos, etc” (Instituto Tomie Othake, Sao Paulo, 2007); “re-projecting (utrecht)” (Casco, Utrecht, 2008); 7th Shanghai Biennale (2008). Some of his curatorial projects are “Panorama da Arte Brasileira 2001” (co-curator, Museu de Arte Moderna da Sao Paulo, 2001) “On Difference #2 (co-curator, Kunstverein Stuttgart, 2006) and “pogovarjanja/conversations/conversas” (co-curator, Skuc Gallery, Ljubljana, 2006). He was a contributor of Art after conceptual art (edited by Alexander Alberro y Sabeth Buchmann, Generali Foundation, MIT Press, 2006), The next Documenta should be curated by an artist (Ed. Jens Hoffmann, Revolver Books, 2004) and Interaction: Artistic practice in the network (Ed. Amy Scholder and Jordan Crandall, New York, Eyebeam, Atelier, 2001). He edited the book Arte Contemporânea Brasileira: texturas, dicçoes, dicçoes, estratégias (Rio de Janeiro, Contra Capa, 2001).
