Silvia Gruner

Mexico

She studied Visual Arts at Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, USA, (1982) and at Betzalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, (1982). In her installations she mixes and alternates photography, video and film. While all these media connect by a subjective personal view that observes the apparently anodyne features and gestures they look to define attitudes and resume life itself, the absolute simplicity and repetition, as well as the recurrent reference to the day by day context, to our every day life's, defining therefore a more personal and unclassified art work. She has exhibited her work and videos at Centro Contemporáneo de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain; Sala de Arte Publico Siqueiros, Mexico DF; Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico DF; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, USA; Casa de America, Madrid, Spain; Centro Wilfredo Lam, La Habana Cuba; Museo del Barrio, New York, USA; Second Johannesburg Biennale, South Africa; Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada; Sidney Biennial, Sidney, Australia; Insite 2000, Insite 1994, Tijuana —San Diego; Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt, Germany, Museo Experimental El Eco, Mexico DF, Participant Inc., New York, USA
