Program 3: Film Belongs to Those Who Work It

• Piedra de Sol, Colectivo Los Ingrávidos, 2017, 9 min.

This short film intertwines everyday scenes, exposed one on top of the other, where the elements of nature and the agitation of a protest in the middle of Mexico City’s Zócalo are discovered as states of the same cycle. “Stone sculpted in celluloid, face of flames, devoured face, ghost years, circular days, facing the same patio, the same wall, the instant burns and they are a single face, the successive faces of the flame, all the names are a single name, all the faces are a single face chiseled in filmic transparency.” Colectivo Los Ingrávidos.

• G/R/E/A/S/E, Antoni Pinent, 2008-2013, 22 min.*

Handmade décollage from the film Grease (1978). Inspired by Dziga Vertov, Mimmo Rotella, Christian Marclay, Pablo Ferro and Paul Sharits, among others, Pinent destabilizes the notion of the frame as the minimal unit of cinema by means of the FILM QUARTET technique (also known as 35/4), where the image is fragmented into four horizontal fields similar to the spaces limited by a pentagram.
