Indigenous zapotec muxhe, from Juchitán de Zargoza, Oaxaca. Social activist for more than 19 years on the local, regional and international, with focus on health, sexuality, ancestral gender identity, human rights and cultural promotion. Founder of the Binni Laanu AC collective. First Muxhe trans candidate for a public office. Member of the Mecanismo Coordinador de País del Fondo Mundial para SIDA en México (MCP), representative of the Mushe/trans community. Coordinator of the Secretariado Internacional para Pueblos Indígenas y Afro descendientes ante el VIH/SIDA, la Sexualidad y los Derechos Humanos (SIPIA 2008-2013). Member of the selection comittee for amrAR proiects, The Foundation for AIDS Research for LAtin America and Caribe. She has given lectures on different countries, for instance What are we talking about when we talk about generic indigenous identities or ancestral? The Muxhe experience as a trigger for a possible debate. Member of the indigenous work international group for HIV and AIDS (GTIIVS) on Toronto, Canada. She now studies Social Anthropology at Universidad Veracruzana, at Xalapa, Veracruz, México.
